Toronto and Montreal have and intense rivalry over the centuries. I must admit since I have lived in Toronto most of my life that I have been swept up by this rivalry. It extends over from various political and economic issues to the heated rivalries between the cities sports franchises. This is especially the case between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens. Therefore when I visit Montreal I am always ready to hate as I know so many Montrealers are when they go to Toronto. But to be honest there is little about Montreal that you can really hate. The city has considerable charm. This is because there are so many wonderful aspects to the city that you cannot resent it. The restaurants are excellent, the nightlife is very exciting and. like Toronto it is multicultural. Unlike Toronto, Montreal has preserved much of its colonial charm in the Viex Montreal neighborhood. Montreal also hosts some very good museums and galleries. There are several attractions that the children will also like the Biophere. Therefore highly recommend that you take the city in as a visit will be most enjoyable for all family members. |
