Let me make one thing clear about Boston. By European standards there are no cheap places to stay. At least someplace that I would send a love one and want him or her to sleep in relative comfort. When I began to consider a visit to Boston, which was about three months before I actual did arrive in the city, I thought that I would be best to book a relatively affordable place to stay well in advance. After some research I came up with the Newbury Guesthouse. I choosed this establishment for a couple of reasons being cost and location. The room I stayed in cost me $140.00. That is cheap by Boston standards but to be honest the room was small for an American hotel room. In much of Europe this room would have cost about half as much. Still the room was well maintained and very clean. The location was great as it was just six blocks from Fenway Park and near many bars and restaurants. The guesthouse is in a row of three old brownstones that does give the place a rather homey feel that I liked.
Unique Qualities: The Newbury Guesthouse is presently being renovated to some degree. They are building a bar in the basement. The staff here was quite friendly and helpful.
