For those that have yet to visit the Earth's ever decreasing rain forest Costa Rica is the perfect introduction. It is easy and relatively inexpensive to reach from most place in Europe and North America. The country also has an established and affordable tourist structure. Furthermore besides offering an excellent opportunity to visit the rain forest, Costa Rica has superb beaches where you can relax for a few days. I met whole families coming down to Costa Rica for beach vacations and a little hiking in the rain forest on the side. Also Costa Rica has now even become a major destination for surfers because of the fantastic waves on the Pacific coast. I think with such a combination of fascinating things to see and to do that Costa Rica is an excellent destination that the whole family can enjoy.
- Pros:Beautiful scenery, beaches. Great wildlife.
- Cons:Muggers in San Jose. Food is so-so.
- In a nutshell:So much in so small a package

Interesting tips on the museums and nature walks. I don't mind a bit of mud occasionally, but what I'd really like to do is go on a skywalk up among the tops of the trees in the jungle.
Great tips and pictures of Costa Rica. Made me want to go back there.
Hi Paul, Thanks for a great overview of Costa Rica. Karen and I are making our first trip there next March.
Hello Paul. I really enjoyed your tips, especially on the national parks! The spiders made me worry a bit, but I won't let some ugly critters stop me from exploring a new country! Greetings from the desert (where we have scorpions, too) / Jess :-)
Paul, a very impressive page on Costa Rica. So informative, helpful, and quite interesting. The hotel tips are outstanding. Great photos and insightful commentary.
Wow Paul, I thoroughly enjoyed your pages on Costa Rica. Your tips were informative and covered most of what people would look for if they went to CR. I will definitely be back to see more of your pages. Lori.
Great page; I know someone who wants to retire here!
Another great page! The wildlife here really appeals to me, except for the big spiders, hahaha! I never knew CR had geysers and mudpots and such.
lots of objective info here...nicely done
Great page Paul. I loved CR. And very happy to say, "we saw no 8 legged creatures in any of our rooms"!
