For those who are touring the Greek Mainland, one has to visit the great archeological site at Delphi. Of all of Greece's fantastic archeological sites, Delphi is the most stunningly situated. It lies on the slop of a steep hill where there are great views of the valley that leads down to the Gulf of Corinth. The archeological ruins are quite extensive and it takes about half of day to visit the site. Also because the walk around the site is at times rather rugged, good walking shoes are recommended. I overheard some elderly people complaining about having difficulties in getting about. I also suggest that you bring along a litre of water because you will get quite thirsty under the hot Greek Sun. My biggest gripe about Delphi was that is was very crowded as it is one of Greece's most popular attractions. This made shooting photos difficult if you want to get a shot without a mass of tourist getting in the way. |
