  • There are lots of unusual things in the Yukon such as the world's only log skyscraper in Whitehorse. Actually it is only four stories high and at the time of my visit to Whitehorse it was the constituency office for local Member of Parliament, Audrey MacLauglin. It is interesting to look at if you are out on a stroll though Whitehorse.

  • Yep the Yukon can be rather rustic. I stayed with a friend of mine who then lived up there in the frontier. This was his cabin! Quaint is it not. Actually I pulling your leg. This cabin was part of a ghost town or sorts. It is the remains of outpost that was built back during the Second World War when the US and Canadian army engineers together built the Alaskan highway. There are all kinds of the such abandoned cabins along the highway to Alaska. Some are quite pictureques.

Thanks for a glimpse of this isolated territory! It truly must be one of the last areas of real wilderness...thanks for your tips.

The Yukon is indeed one of the last frontiers of Canada!

Such great (RECENT) memories, visiting your page!! 2 things: I got there BEFORE the mosquitoes (late may), at least in Dawson/Whitehorse... Also, the Dawson ferry is FREE & very regular (never had to wait 1/2 an hour...) But it's also LOUD, esp. at night!
