No person on Earth does not have some sort of opinion of the United States. As the world's only superpower, images of the United States usually stirs up a wide range of emotions whether envy to resentment. A lot these emotions are paradoxical. I have seen programs on TV where people on the street in the Middle East or India would ramble on about how much they hate America but when asked, they exclaim that they would jump at the chance to emigrate there.
I suppose I am like many in having a love/hate relationship with the United States. I resent it's seemingly ignorance of the world beyond its borders, especially to its Northern neighbor. At the same time I am always looking foreward to the opportunity to visit the States. Partly I guess it is because I am never bored there. Each city in the United States has something that makes it worth a visit. This includes even non tourist oriented cities like Buffalo and many others. The fact is each time I cross the American border I get something of a rush.
So far I have visited over thirty states within this huge country in numerous visits across the border. As my last trip to Chicago proved, there is so much to see in each city and town that it is frustrating. Thus far I have seen most of the major cities in America with the possible exception of New Orleans(soon I hope) and Seattle. In my U.S.A. page I hope to group everything under a single page until it is so full that I can actually seperate each page by city. I know that ultimately it will take a lot of work.
- Pros:So much to see and to do. Never dull.
- Cons:High crime(but overrated). Expensive!
- In a nutshell:The Country Everbody Should Visit at Least Once.

Hi Paul, thanks for this whirlwind tour of my native country. I especially like the tips and travelogue on hiking in Alaska (where I have never been), and the tips on the great Chicago museums that I remember from my childhood.
A fabtastic page, with a distinct cultural and artistic leaning... I will definately go and see The Frick Collection when in NY in January! PLus St Patrick's Cathedral. Very informative and compelling. Thank you.
I've found sites where you can rent one for 45$ an hour. You might want to go to a comparison site where you can find the best deal. The easiest to navigate and best prices is ezlimorentals.com. Good luck in your travels!
lovely page! Nikos
A great page and excellent pics ! Alaska & especially Juneau are my favorites in USA ! ...great to see also a pic of the Red Dog Saloon, it might be a tourist-trap , but I liked it anyway !!
Very interesting read. It seems we visited exactly different states (except common Washington, DC). Great info on art museums. I have to visit Chicago, Baltimore and NYC + Alaska, I see. Go South to study the War Between the States.
I agree, NYC is hard to leave, it is so exciting at times, but being an upstate girl myself, I can't help loving the natural beauty of the Catskills, Mohonk Mountains and the Shawangunk Ridge. You miss out on a lot by not venturing out of the Big Apple.
A very comprehensive page here with lots of useful info - I enjoyed Ellis Island Museum - so much history!!
Thanks for the good words about Baltimore! We, too, wish Americans knew more about Canada. We love visiting our neighbors to the north (we've been to 7 provinces).
Interesting look from the North at the Southern Colussus. Remember, Seattle is best visited in Summer, since it has been raining here in the Northwest since October! ;-]
