I have a great affection for trams. I think that they are a great way to see a strange city at an affordable cost. Happily I can report that Vienna has a great tram system in place that passes by many of the regal buildings located throughout the city. May hotel was right by a tram stop which like all tram stops, was clearly marked. There is tramline that goes along the Ringstrasse that is particularly valuable to tourists.
Vienna has an outstanding pass system set up to make using public transportation an affordable option. You can use a three day pass for, what its now 16.90 Euros, that allowed me to use the transit system including the trams for an unlimited amount of times. The pass also allows you to get a discount price for entry into many of the city's museums. I purchased a 72 hour pass that simply allowed me to use any form of transport within the city for an unlimited amount of rides. Today this cost 12 Euros. There is also a 24 hour pass offering the same deal at a cost of 5 Euros. I think all things considered these are good deals.

Vienna has a great underground... Bus,tram&Metro Review

Vienna has a great underground metro system which makes it easy to get around in. Since some of the great palaces are actually on the outskirts of the city this is very importance. Also when I was there they had a three day pass that you can on the city tranportation all you want for those three days. You can by these at any newspaper stand. I wish my hometown would think of something like that.
