When I researched my trip to Greece I decided that there was too much for someone with my interests to see on just one trip. For such a small country there is a heck of alot to see and things to do. The Islands seem to be quiet beautiful but instead I thought I would give a tour of the Mainland a whirl inspite of one of my friends telling me not to bother. I do not regret my decision. All I do regret is that I did not have more time (23 days). I did make it to Zykinthos, one of the Ionian Islands, so that is an option if you are particularily interested in seeing what the Mainland has to offer and to get some beachtime in too. I found the Greek Mainland to be both fascinating and at time strikingly beautiful. The mountain scenery can be stunning. Only now have the locals realized what they have got here in hiking possibilities. Best of all by sticking to the Mainland you will be able to visit Greece's great archeological sites and fascinating old towns. |

traveldave Fri Jan 4, 2008 16:10 UTC I found Greece to be one of the most beautiful and interesting countries I visited in Europe. I was there for only a few days and therefore didn't get to see all the sights you saw. | icunme Sat Apr 29, 2006 22:52 UTC Back again to tour your Greece pages - more great photos/tips. Ciao, Carol | Bwana_Brown Sat Mar 11, 2006 00:45 UTC Amazing experiences in Greece! With such history, it seems you were correct to focus on mainland places like Acrocorinth. Also, great tips on transport woes and also having to put up with Laganas Beach! Now I'm thinking about Mayan vs. Greek timelines! | JLBG Sat Aug 20, 2005 05:10 UTC Yes, Delphi is crowded. If you are on your own, you can avoid most of the crowd if you arrive at the opening of the site (8?) as most busses don't show before 10. Greece requires several travels, better on your own, to get some taste of the country. |
