I visited Lithuania in 1992 right after the fall of Communism and the lithuanian independance in Sepetember 1991 . I went there with my grandmother who was born there and came to Israel in the early 70's with my late grandfather and my father . At first when she suggested this trip I didn't really know what to expect. All of my friends were going to places like the US, England and France and I was going to Eastren Europe! I thought I was going to a country that is totaly disconnected from the world and that stopped developing but when I arrived there i was surprised !
We arrived there early in the morning on a flight from Tel Aviv straight to the airport in Vilnius , the people there were very nice and welcomed us and told us what's new and where should we go !
We then met a son of my grandmother's friend who lived there and he took us to where we stayed for the next few days.
As we drove from the airport I discovered that Lithuania is far more beautiful than what I imagined , we were driving through historical buildings and along the Neris river that crosses the city.
After a short car ride in the city I knew that all of what I thought of Lithuania was really silly , now I knew I'm going to see one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. The next two weeks didn't dissapoint me , we visited many beautiful places and I learned a lot about the country.
Lithuania is amazing and I can't wait to visit there again .
Below you will find some of what I can remember right now from this trip . I was only 11 years old back then so I can't really remember every detail !
