Upon arriving in Dalat by bus (what a trip from Mui ne...4 hours mostly uphill on steep and quite bad mountain roads - that made us feel like being on a camel ride) we checked in at the hotel and decided to go for a walk and find something to eat.
The town is quite nice and charming with an artificial lake which forms the social centre and a much smaller replica of the Eiffel tower... a little bit of kitsch here and there included. The most remarkable of this place is its climate. Due to its high altitude the temperatures are exceptionally low and the air is fresh and dry.The vegetation outside town reminded me of my home Austria (opposed of course to the contrast to it otherwise seen) You see people wearing jackets and even the kids are wearing different school uniforms with sweaters and long trousers. After hot and humid days it´s refreshing indeed to take one or two days ´off´ the heat...that´s why I was pleased arriving there! |
