"The perfect alpine town" a Mittenwald Travel Page by lenoreva

We went to Mittenwald as part as part of a 2 day trip to Bavaria. Day one we explored Linderhof and the Weiskirche and arrived in Mittenwald at about 19:00. We found a bed and breakfast (very easy to do since there are so many free) with a great view of the mountains and settled in. We explored the town (very cute downtown area and church) and had a delicious dinner at the Restaurant zur Rutsche - (full of locals and repeat vistors!). After dinner, we returned to our room and sat out on the balcony -enjoying the magical atmosphere. On day 2, we checked out the Karwendel Bahn - the gondola up the to the top of Karwendel peak. We decided not to go up because we hadn`t brought the proper shoes. Instead, we hiked to the Leutaschklamm - a real natural wonder. For more info on all these points - see tips below.
