"Copán Ruins" Copán by lenoreva

Copán Travel Guide: 215 reviews and 967 photos

I can't say that I have experienced too much of Honduras, so this is really my Copán Ruins page. I visited a friend in Guatemala and we booked a tour that included Rio Dulce in Guatemala and the Copan Ruins. We booked the 3 day trip in Antigua for around $80 USD which included 2 nights accomodation and transportation, plus the Copan entry fee. Since we would not stay in Honduras other than to visit Copán, we did not pay for an actual Honduran visa. Instead we each got a stamp in our passports that said "Recuerdo de Copán Ruinas". The week before, my friend and I had gone to Tikal in Guatemala, and Copán just wasn't as impressive (IMHO). However, it was worth the trip just to see the Mayan Ball Court (no example left at Tikal) and the hieroglyphic staircase.

The Mayans certainly incorporated a means of motivation into their ballgames!
