"Morocco - (Fès(z)) - its history - its... " a Wilaya de Fes Travel Page by Luchonda

Morroco, located in the NW of Africa, counts three mayor cities.
-Casablanca as an economical pivot table
-Rabat as the Capital and seat of the government
-And .. Fès finaly as intellectual and artisan headquarter of Morocco.
Even more .. Morocco counts 4 imperial cities: Rabat, Marrakesh, Fès and Mehnès.
Fès is the oldest one
..
Once you find your way in the many narrow streets of the Fès Medina you have to visit the El Attarina medresse, a highlight of combined architecture of wood and marble.
It is here that i was fascinated by the "zellij" sculptures of Koran verses

In many corners and public streets you will see this well decorated waterfountains, used for many reasons like daily water supply (local woman on the left - having some waterfun (local children in the middle), cleaning shoes by a professional shoemaker (right).

Very narrow streets, many shops, no cars allowed - only locals, tourists and mules and donkies
(who is who?) because this is the only way of transport in the oldest part of the city. And be aware - they have the first right ! The mules i mean.
