The tulip was originally a wild flower growing in the Central Asia area and first cultivated by the Turks in early 1 AD. The flowers were introduced in western Europe and the Netherlands in the 17th century by Carolus Clusius, a famous biologist
In Ghent/Belgium, the "Floralies exhibition" are famous, but i was always curieus and fascinated about a small place in southern Netherland called Lisse, visited by many VT-members, and located near Haarlem and Rotterdam. I went there to get the proof. And finally i have to admit Keukenhof offers you the opportunity to see millions of bulbs in flower, fantastic flower shows and the largest sculpture park in the Netherlands Enjoy the spring!

what a nice coverage of flower city. i enjoyed the pictures and the tips both.
Beautiful flowers! We will visit the place in the begining of May! Hope to have good weather!
A wonderful place foe relaxation and a wonderful page with so brilliant photos! Thanks Carolus Clusius for introducing flowers in Europe and thanks Luc for sharing!
I wish I had a "kitchen garden" like this.
Lisse near Haarlem and Rotterdam????? You'd better drive a P...... instead of a Honda, it would lead you in the right direction which is Leiden. Nice photos, by the way.
Hi Luc, thanks for your virtual postcard. This looks like a great place for cycling. I like your flower and windmill photos on this fine new page.
