A daytrip, no more, no less

Bornem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp.
Near Temse/St-Niklaas. Well known by the yearly "dead march"or the 100km walking within 24hrs organised in august
I never did the march, but tried to smell the feeling of an extreme sport.
I admit, stranded at a good pub and was finally disappointed by the limits to visit the local Castle.

Not much to see.. But a nice place to stroll

The bridge

A view on "Temse Bridge", connection between Antwerp.St-Niklaas and Bxl is rather impressive and Temse is historical (Boelwerf/wharfs)

The hidden castle of Bornem

The castle - a secret place

I was in Bornem in february 2008. There are no symbols as from the St-Jozef Hospital telling you that a visit to the castle is limited in time. Only after strolling the bush lane (1km) there are signals like " Individuals are not allowed and have to turn back"

Pros and Cons

Pros:Nice place for walking/cycling
Cons:The secret castle
In a nutshell:A nice daytrip, nice pubs on the marketplace
