  • Looking for places besides the official wellknown spots in Venice is also spectacular.
We took the ferry (or local tram/boat) to San Marco Square and than - after visiting some highlights of Venice we walked straight from North to South direction "Parking Communale) - it was a good way to discover other pittoresque spots in venice !

  • Look out for the typical sculptures when you travel through the many narrow streets ! Religious believes expressed in sculptures are decorating many houses, portals and walls of churches

  • We were invited to a local - non touristic - factory of the famous masks.
The artist herself explained us the way of making those masks, the history and importance of staying rather unknown during Carnavale period. Actually from october till june !!

  • Symbol of Carnavale in Venice, in the past from october till june, can you imagine.
Belgium, Germany and even Rio de Janeiro - be hufted about this period of pleasure, fun and games in the casinos.
All over different shops in Venice you can buy masks, but the prices are so different. From a few euros or dollars till .... the sky or yr creditcard is the limit.

  • Just stroll around the less touristic parts of southern Venice. Observe the architecture of many houses in this city. Look at the way of
decorating walls by a kind of chimneys, look at the catholic symbols - just enjoy !

  • Take your time, stroll around on this "Boulevard" or Zattere and visit the Scuola voga-vela.It is impressive to see how a Gondola (11meters long and 600 kg of weight) is put into the Canale della Giudecca

Lovely photos of Venice. Did you bump into Romeo and Juliet when you were in Venice ;))

Luc I love Venice, it was a pity we were there for only two nights, and one day at Burano Island. Next time we will stay longer. Your Venice page is great.

The self service restaurant called Chat Qui Rit is worth a visit to see just how rude the cashier and manager can be. They are unbelieveable.

I'm going back to Venice in March and I can't wait! But I think I'll skip your idea of going up in a balloon, and I'm afraid, the 1000 $ glass figurines will have to stay in the shop.
