Transit city with a lot of history Visiting Cuba - Holguin is often the first contact with this Caribbean Island It is a nice city with a lot of parks and squares and located between two hills. The former inhabitants took an active part in the revolution. The greatest hero during the Revolution in the 19ths was Calixto Garcia - shown on this picture Two little girls playing in front of the statue. After the famous revolution -supported by the Americans - Holguin became famous for it's sugarcrane production - owned by the Americans and the United Fruit Company - one of the members was Angel Castro who made big profits in the business.Out of several "histoires d'amour" a bastard son was born - Fidel - and there goes the story - a story of love and hate against imperialism and capitalism. |
