My first excursion in BsAs was planned, but later: September 9th - 2006 I took me more than 24 hours to close the door of my house and to put my first step on Argentina ground. From Ghent to BXL by autocar, a plane from Paris CDG to Madrid, from Madrid to Buenos Aires in Argentina with Aeroline Argentinas. The Aeroline is not recommendable because they changed the time table unexpectatly so that my connection flight to Cordoba was delayed with more than 9 hours. Our group, Fabienne, Gilberta, Jean-Claude and miss Cyntia were blocked on BsAs international Airport. The plan was to visit BsAs on day 11. Fortunaly Werner, our Tour Guide was inventive, hired a mini-bus so that we could taste the BsAs athmosphere earlier than foreseen. - Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosa - Grand Cafe Tortoni - San Telmo - plaza Dorego - Shopping center Florida - Cementario de la Recoleta |
| Grand café Tortoni-a masque of Gardel |
| | Tortoni, grand café, cultural heritage A must to visit, located at Avenida de Mayo 825 and opened 1858 A meetingplace for cultural "avant-garde". The interior didn't change much since than.Well decorated with glamour paintings and statues of Carlos Gardel and other Tango nightingales of the period 1930-1950. The ceiling windows are subliem, the menu prices still democratic. Whenever strolling on de Avenida de Mayo, get inside. But it is closed in the morning, so make up yr time schedule |
La Boca (Mouth) - Caminito The history of Tango dancing is quite interesting. To see it's birthplace, come to Argentina and enjoy the (touristic) Caminito area in Buenos Aires | | |
