In the north of Argentina Jujuy, an intermediate stop to reach HUMAHUACA and located only 120km from the Bolivian border and a 100 km from Salta, the most northern Province in Argentina. In fact not much to see in the city itself except , El Cathedral, the Casa de Gobierno- official residence of the local gouvernment, the market place, but you have so many market places and at last, but not at least, the wonderfull surroundings, landscapes and lagunes. |
| | Man at work in the salt mines at heigh level Working in this fields is hard and to protect themself against the reflection of the sun on the salt they have to carry a hat, sunglasses and even a balaclava or helmet |
Digging for industrial and commercial Salt Your breakfast with some scrumbled eggs and spiced with salt and pepper. Maybe the salt is imported from this area in northern Argentina. A strange landscape, especially at this height. From the green well colored mountains via the Rin-Tin road through the National Park "Los Cardones" and than this, a white landscape , pure salt and literately breathtaking. Hard working conditions for the locals | | |

Trekki Sun Oct 15, 2006 17:14 UTC Ahh, waiting for more :-) Jujuy must be so beautiful, I heard so much of it from my friends in Mendoza | Nemorino Mon Oct 9, 2006 22:25 UTC Hi Luc, thanks for the virtual postcard. That's an intriguing photo on your intro page, the one with the statue of a man with sunglasses. Do you know who he is supposed to be? The whole area looks very remote and mysterious. | tini58de Sat Oct 7, 2006 13:07 UTC I have never heard of this place, but it seems like an interesting off the beaten path destination! Thanks for sharing! | Diana75 Thu Oct 5, 2006 20:54 UTC As you said, the surroundings are indeed wonderful. I love the pictures of the salinas. |
