  • The guardians protecting the entrance to the square with the four Chedi's and the temple of the relaxing Buddha are made of stone by a chinese artist and symbolises the period of VOC :
"Verenigde Oostindische Company" - the golden years of the Dutch trading companies !
They have enormous hats and are reclining on a walking stick .

Luc, very interesting tips on your time in Bangkok! It is a country that I've always wanted to visit and was thinking about doing it this winter - but the fuel surcharges on flights were a bit excessive at the time!

Thanks for visiting my Bangkok page, Luc. Lovely photos and tips here! The floating markets look very interesting - I wanted to visit one during my stay, but never found the time. As you say, Bangkok is a place that you "have to see"! :-)

Ahh, looks great ! But I miss food tips :-) Where are the real spicy thai meals ? That detail picture is fantastic :-)

The temples are really impressive! I would not like to walk across the guardians on a dark night! They are frightening! Interesting page on a country and a region I do not know at all!
