Ranakpur - one of the most beautiful temples of the Jains.
The enormous temple (surface of 3600 m2) is constructed out of pure Marble stones and decorated with many sculptures - each telling it's own story
The picture shows "The Plaque of Parshva" 3 feet in diameter and placed against one of the walls in the south of the complex.
Parshva was a prophet of the Jains in the 8 century BC.The Parshva is flanked by Jina's and an attendant
protected by elephants and a Cobra. |
