Cheddar Gorge in Somerset is Britain's largest gorge formed out of limestone. The Cheddar caves are probably the most beautiful caves in the UK. The caves and gorge were originally ice age riverbeds. The illuminated caves are about a quarter of a mile long and are open to the public to view. Gough cave is the largest and the most spectular and Cox's cave smaller but with small pools and winding passageways and more calcite flowstone formations. The is also a museum where you can visit Cheddar Man, Britain's oldest complete skeleton who was found buried there. The whole area has been designated as a Site of Scientific Interest. Even in 1170 AD the Cheddar Gorge and its caves were recognised as one of the Four Wonders of England. The caves were occupied by Stone Age Man and many archaeological artifacts have been found. Cheddar was feature in one of BBC's Time Team programmes.
- Pros:Great way to get to taste real cheddar cheese and see great caves
- Cons:Gets packed in the summer months with tourists
- In a nutshell:Its more than just cheese

Snap. Some of your pictures of the caves are the same as mine! But yours are clearer, and more of course.
You should make your travelogue into tips! Great pics :)
Love the cave pics, I really should get mine of our trip onto VT soon. Thanks for being my tour guide on that trip :-)
I like cheddar :-) the photos of the rock formations were really wild! Liked them!
