VT hasnt put Co. Clare and the Burren locations up yets so I am using the Galway page. The Burren is a place of wild rugged beauty with many unexpected pockets of scenic serenity and of course, the pubs and friendly locals. Well the start of the journey was to catch a flight from Cardiff (Wales) to Dublin. On the way to Cardiff we persuaded the third member of our party that he needed his passport to get into Wales when going through the toll booth at the bridge, yep he fell for it. Landed at Dublin and drove all the way to Ballyvaughan a total of 150 miles. Got to Ballyvaughan late at night and promptly visited a pub or two. We spent the week touring the Burren area visiting little villages and places of interest. Its a fantastic area and we are now planning to return next May. Sadly we didnt get to visit the Aran islands but will next year. I decided to develop a very bad cold but Potcheen, an irish spirit is very good for colds! Well after a few drink of the stuff I didnt notice the cold anymore!. |
