OW BIST = Hi, How are you
The pic above is the Bristol Ballon festival, it the the biggest festival of its kind in the world, you can always see ballons in the sky here most weekends.
The Biggest Balloon Festival takes place in August at Ashton Court Estate, and at night they have what is called the night glow (from the burners), which is a sight to behold.
I have lived in bristol now for 15 months and have learnt to love this small but bustling city, it has so much to offer, and for me who is searching my family history is a real goldmine for information.
The beautiful center of the City of bristol was virtually distroyed in Novemeber 1941 by 10,000 incedery bombs in one night, but thankfully much was restored and the outskirts of bristol are still intact in their history.
Bristol and Bath are built on an extinct volcano (if you go to Kingswood you can see the ring of the crater clearly). The City was settled by Romans after occupation by Celts, (See the Roman Baths at Bath) it has increased in size since and is in constant rate of population and economic growth.
Money was made in Bristol from the Slave Trade and by the Tobacco Industry (Wills Bros). We have many building given to the City by The Wills Family, so as Greebo says they made have killed thousands with Cigarettes but we have beautiful buildings to remind us.
Bristol has many old buildings to see going back hundreds of years, and the remains of the old castle can be seen in the city center. Bristol also has a very rich nightlife with pubs and clubs in abundance.
Did you know that Bristol has over 140 musical venues, that means you can go to adifferent one ever night for 5 months (OK my math is out but you know what I mean :-)
