| Paldiski Church, reconstruction started |
Paldiski church Paldiski was nice resort on the beginning of 1900ies. It was closed by soviet military forces about 50 years. It is on Pakri peninsula on nice rocky banks. If You want to visit soviet time military ruins You can see them a lot near Paldiski and in the town. The largest military building is soviet army sea forces submarine training centre (in ruins now). It's getting better all the time at the city and now You can find acceptable accommodation and some restaurants, marked hiking roads and boat trips to Pakri islands. There are two Islands near Paldiski -- Suur-pakri and Väike-Pakri. Last one is clear and marked with hiking routes, first one is less discovered and may have mines and bombs outside the official route (in 2002). |
| Old Church ruins in Suur-Pakri |
Pakri Islands There are islands near Paldiski - Suur-pakri and Väike-Pakri, with ruins of swedish villages and soviet military bases. very different place from other islands. Pakri islands are connected with strange soviet military time bridge, Suur-Pakri is less visited than Väike-Pakri and You can find more ruins of villages. Väike-pakri is more military and 1 local is living there year-around with solar cells and eco-systems. |
