When I fell in love with my charming rose.

And I’m standing now as the birds are singing
On the hill Bikavac high above the town:

You can see the Drina in the morning shine!”

See me off right here for I have to go
To mother Serbia, to my hometown.
And I’ll grieve for you now and forever,
You, my only love, and the word we gave.

Here I am again sitting on Bikavac,
Looking at the Drina and the dawning day.
Birds are singing sweetly as they sang before,
But you’re not by me, my darling and my love.

Oh, Visegrad town, where’s my loving rose?

Happy we were walking along the whispering Drina.
