I had not been so crazy to visit Berlin . But I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. My husband wanted a short city break in a European capital, to get away from the hot Middle Eastern summer. And we both wanted to do a lot of walking. So we went to Berlin for 5 days and walked our feet off. |
| | the different neighbourhoods I was particularly surprised by the variety of buildings in the different parts of the city.Of course I knew that Berlin had been bombed in the Second World War, but I was amazed at how much had been completely wiped out and restored. It is easy to walk around and see the ghosts of the past, sitting right next to the modern new buildings like the Sony Centre and the Kultureforum complex. And of course the Reichstag building ,which is amazing, really sums up this juxtaposition of the new and the old. |

chutha Fri Oct 9, 2009 15:05 UTC Hi piglett I assume this is a street play (well also - a tourist gimmick - exchange for money) but am curious how many of these officers will be along the wall? | iblatt Sat Oct 4, 2008 10:37 UTC Hi Ruthi! Your writing is always a pleasure to read. I disagree about the Jewish museum, but we can discuss that face to face next week... I've just started my Berlin pages, you are invited to read the introduction. Shana tova, Ilan | hunterV Mon Jul 28, 2008 09:20 UTC Sholom, Ruth! Thanx for your page! Nice places to visit! |
