"An off-the-beaten-track island" Amorgos by SirRichard
Amorgos Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 36 photos
Amorgos is not in the main touristic routes of the Cicladic Islands. It's small, windy, it's got mountains and beaches (Paradisi, Agia Anna, Mouron), a beautiful capital (Chora) and an amazing monastery hanging from a rocky cliff...
Amorgos is located in the extreme of the Cicladic Islands group. I went there from Naxos by ferry. In fact, I think you can only get there from Naxos as the ferry doesn't go any further. The ferry operates only within the Cicladic Islands, so Amorgos is a kind of "end of the line"...
This amazing monastery is literally “hanging” from a huge stone ciff in the east coast of the island. You can get there by bus from the capital and then walk the hundreds of steps to the white building. But is worth the effort, you can visit inside the monastery and the views from the top are gorgeous too...
