Relax

Being nearly the most touristic island of Greece and a rather spoiled place, I tough Mykonos would be a place to really avoid. We arrived there in high (though not peak) season, without pre-booking, in Easter. The first tries were useless, everything was full, it was half raining and we were tired after the ferry... I was beginning to hate Mykonos!

But suddenly we entered in a travel agency where they found an appartment for us in the capital, the sun appeared, and we saw our first Mykonos sunset!
Things changed, we rented a moped to see the island, visited some not-so-crowded beaches, and after 3 days there I must admit it was a good experience. I wouldn't return, as there are Greek Islands I appreciate much more, but Mykonos can be all you expect from a Greek Island... except calm!!!

Delos

At Delos

Another good reason to visit Mykonos is the close by island of Delos. Once a sacred island and an important aegean hub, this island full of ruins really deserves a half day trip from Mykonos, reserve some time for it!!

Didn't realize Mykonos has its charms. Love the whitewash look. So does it mean your feet will always remain clean?!

I missed out on the windmills of La Mancha but will have a 2nd chance with the windmills of Mykonos. Friends think I'm NUTZ for chasing windmills! (Gee that story sounds familiar) ;-) Another sophisticated travel view by SirRichard (full of helpful info!)

This is a place I would go to just for the sunsets. Those walls and streets are still so white, even in your old pictures.

I'm glad you didn't abandon your plans as the beginning didn't work out...but the end sure seems like fun! "Sunsets from the rooftops"...another good name for a movie!!
