Since the first time I read the Odyssey I have wanted to visit Pilos, land of king Nestor. He was one of my favourites in both Iliad & Odyssey. As witty and intelligent as Ulisses, he was his closest friend in Troy, even wiser, as he was older.

We love Pylos also and last visited last year. There was some sort of pilgrimage to Sfakteria Island, mainly by women. Did you visit the castle? Hot work but well worth the effort.
Incredible page for this part of the country that is unknown to most foreigners! The references in Homer's epic make the page even more interesting.
Awesome Pilos page. The place looks so nice I don't feel sorry for the Spartans that were under siege there by the Athenians during the Peloponesian Wars anymore. Didn't know about the hotel there or King Nestor.
