What To Buy: The modernist architect Gaudi has become a common topic for souvenirs in many shops in BCN. In some, like this one, you can find whole windows with any possible item inspired in its work.

    Souvenirs: Shops at the airport
  • Tip Rating:

  • At the El Prat airport you will find a huge area for shopping, with many kinds of shops, from Souvenirs to chocolates, wines, books... I arrived 30 minutes earlier than I should to the airport and had a good time wandering around...

La Boqueria / Markets: La Boqueria
  • Tip Rating:
  • Name of Shop: La Boqueria / Markets

This popular food market has some of the best food stands in all Spain. The quality is excellent and the presentation too. OK, you won't buy many fresh food, but anyway, the place deserves a visit, not only for the local ambiance, but also for the architecture of the place and the nice coloured glass.

Spanish writer Vazquez Montalban, known as a gourmet, came here daily to buy fresh products...

This wide avenue that goes from Placa de Catalunya to Juan Carlos I Sq. is to BCN what Champs Elysees is to Paris.

Here you will find beautiful buildings and the more expensive international firms, from Cartier to Loewe...

In most of the souvenirs shops of BCN you can find many items with a modernist flavour, from lamps to ashtries, from notebooks to handkerchiefs...

They use to be very elegant and colourful and make a perfect gift back home.

La Boqueria / Markets: Market at Plaza del Pi
  • Tip Rating:

  • At the Pi Square, in the Gothic Quarter ther is a street market, I think is on saturdays only, where you can find some local products, mainly gastronomy: local cheeses, ham, honey... products produced in Catalonia, in the countryside.

    Easy Internet
  • Tip Rating:

  • At the beginning of "Las Ramblas" (between Placa Reial and the Colon Statue) you can find this internet cafe, with many computers (333) and convenient prices.

It is part of a big chain, with shops in Madrid and other european capitals. You can use the bonus of BCN in Madrid and viceversa.

There is another one in BCN at Ronda d'Universitat.

What To Buy: Open 08-2:30 in the morning, 7 days a week

  • This huge Mall is located by the sea, near the "Moll de Fusta" Harbour.
Here you can find many shops and restaurants, is very nice in summer to have lunch by a terrace here.

By night they have discos and clubs here as well, though the ambiance and lack of security make it a not very advisable place!

La Boqueria / Markets: Birds at Las Ramblas
  • Tip Rating:
  • Name of Shop: La Boqueria / Markets

In the central sidewalk of Las Ramblas Avenue, nearly in front of La Boqueria market, you can find many street stalls selling birds and other pets.
Is a nice place to walk with kids, as it's like a small zoo, with a wide variety of animals, from parrots to lizards, hamsters, dogs...

Barcelona sounds to be a lovely city! I'm really looking forward to my first visit there later this year. Great tips!

You've missed to mention the 13 geese of Santa Eulallia. For me, they were the cutest surprise in the Gothic Quarter!

Seems to be the square of the final scene of "The Perfume", where Jean-Baptiste Grenouille perfumes himself so irresistible that he's been eaten up by the people at the place.
