  • In the centre of Madrid (Atocha street, 14 at Jacinto Benavente Sq) you can enjoy a typical arab hammam, and relax in water, massages, nice odours... a different experience!!!
    From 15 to 22 euros.

  • In the Puerta del Sol, just in front of the building where the big clock tower is, you will find the point where all the roads of Spain begin: The km.0.
It's a good meeting point, as everybody knows it!

  • A good way to get a free good map of Madrid is to ask for it at the information desk of the "El Corte Ingles" Department Stores. It's a rather good map, detailed, with 3D drawings of the monuments, Metro plan, tourist info...
The nearest stores to Puerta del Sol are in Preciados Street (the one from Sol to Callao) and in Carmen Street, near Callao Square.

  • This theme park is located not far from the center, in the Casa de Campo.
It is not fantastic, but has enough rides to keep U (and your kids!!!) busy for the whole day.

There are different tickets, from "just visiting" (5 euros) to "free rides in everything" (20 euros).

You can get here by metro (Batan, line 10).

  • In the Castellana avenue, under the bridge of the street Juan Bravo you can find this little collection of sculpture, mostly from spanish 60's artists (Chillida...). A good option to visit on sunday afternoons, when all other museums are closed.

  • This brand new museum (opened just 1 year ago) offers a collection of contemporary spanish art, authors of the 2nd half of the 20th century, like Arroyo, Gordillo, OukaLele, Saura... plus a temporary exhibition on graphic art.

It is located in the Cuartel del Conde Duque (c/ Conde Duque, 9), near Plaza de España, and you can enter by the main gate, in front of the little square "Guardias de Corps".

    Free entrance

  • My favourite place for sunsets in Madrid is the square between tha Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. From that terrace you can see the whole west of Madrid, towards the Casa de Campo and it makes a quiet wonderful palce for a sunset...
