Apartments (1 week minimum)

If you are staying in Madrid for at least 1 week and wanna feel more at home than in a hotel, you can take a look at these apartments in a very central location (near Gran Via and Sol).
They have apts. for 1-2 persons from 60 euros per night (minimum stay, 1 week). They have several, with different sizes...
Take a look at the web below for details.

Unique Qualities: You need to contact Juan (at Apartments), either by email or by phone to arrange to pick up the keys. He will need to know your arrival time.

Hostels & Vegans restaurants - Madrid
Hostels & Vegans restaurants

Bonsoir Cécile

My favourite is the ECOCENTRO (http://www.ecocentro.es/index2.htm). They have store and supermarket too but it is a bit far from the centre.
There is a nice quick-food vegetarian in the very centre, 200 metres from Puerta del Sol, at calle Mayor: MAOZ (http://www.maozveg.com/59)
El Granero de Lavapies is a good one too, close to Reina Sofia Museum, if you happen to go there.

About hostels, some favourites for backpackers are:
METROPOL http://www.metropolhostel.com/index.html
POSADA DE HUERTAS http://www.posadadehuertas.com/index.html

Enjoy Madrid!

Metropol Travellers Hostel

I never stayed here, but I saw some good reviews in "HostelWorld", so I thought it would be good to put it here, as a good backpackers choice in the very heart of Madrid.
The place is unbeatable, the street Montera used to be the red district of Madrid but now there are many police cars parked there often, so the ladies have moved to safer places...

Address: Montera 47

Comparison: least expensive

Directions: In the "Red de San Luis", in the Gran Via, near the Puerta del Sol. Right in the center.

The building - Madrid

Hostal Adriano Hostal Adriano Review

This centrally located little hostel has been recently refurbished and offers nice clean rooms in the very center of Madrid. Is located in a building where most of the flats are hostels, so if you don't find room here, you can try in some others at the same building.
The beds are not really wide, and the decoration is too "plastic", but the place is clean and the location is very central, though you might find some "bad companies" at night in Cruz street....

Singles from 40 Euros, Doubles from 55 euros.

I didn't stay here, but checked it for a friend. It's a few rooms to rent in a refurbished old madrilian house. It's really well decorated, classy, in dark stone and wood. They have Triples (80 euros), Doubles (70 euros) and Singles (65 euros). Some of them have a little kitchen too.
The bathrooms (ensuite) are clean and modern, medium size.

Unique Qualities: Is extremely well located, 2 minutes walking from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The little pedestrian alley is full of new bars and restaurants and is a lively place at night.

Address: c/ Barcelona, 4. Madrid 28012

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: Coming from Puerta del Sol by Carretas street, turn left at the 1st little street (Cadiz) and then right. Is a little pedestrian street. The place is at a little door with no signs, by a bar with the same name.

There are 2 classical Top Hotels in Madrid and both are in the same Square (Canovas del Castill Sq, where Neptune Fountain is).

There are 2 classical Top Hotels in Madrid and both are in the same Square (Canovas del Castill Sq, where Neptune Fountain is).
The Ritz is where most of the Rock / Movies stars go, it's more charming, but a bit "old-fashioned" I think. Well, I've never been to any of these 2, but this is what I heard...
On sundays they serve a delicious BRUNCH here.

Hostales at Gran Via - Madrid

Hostales at Gran Via

Hostales

"Hostales" in Spain are family run pensions, usually located in the historic city centre offering simple rooms for a very good price.
They don't offer that you can find in hotels (room service, halls, breakfast...) but provide a simple clean accomodation at walking distance to the main attractions. Ideal for those on a budget who want the accomodation just to sleep and have a shower...

You will find a list of hostales with direct links (for reservations...) at:
