A Royal Palace and Gardens This page is not about the whole province of Segovia (near Madrid) but only about a little town 10 kms away from the capital, named "La Granja". But, as VT doesn't have a "La Granja" location, I put it here... |
| | What to see La Granja is famous for its Royal Palace and Gardens and by its world known crystal and ceramics industry.
The place was first built in 1450, though the Palace wasn't built till 1721and has been royal residence since then. |
The Palace The Palace was built following the model of the Versailles Palace and Gardens, though in a reduced scale.
This is a good daytrip from Madrid, and if you come by car (1h) you can pass by the nearby Navacerrada sky station and enjoy the beautiful "Sierra" of Madrid, a place closer to Switzerland than to dry Castilla... | | |

The palace looks elegant (and French as it should). | mvtouring Mon Sep 20, 2004 16:07 UTC Nice place, looks like you had a great time as usual |
