Axum Hotel Tips by SirRichard

This is one of the best choices for budget accomodation. It is a local hotel with a nice patio, restaurant and independent travel agency.
I arrived late (19:00h) from Shire (on the way from Gonder), and when I checked in there were only "rooms without WC" which means "simpler and cheaper" rooms. I had to take this for the first night. It was cheap (30B, 3 USD) but too "basic", just a little room with a bed and a chair. The common shower was "too basic" too, to say it politely and the WC was just a hole in the ground, but for the first night it was OK.

For the second night I changed to a "with bathroom" room, which meant better cleaner room built on a new pavillion around the inner patio. This costed 50B (5USD) instead of 30, but I was more than satisfied to have this brand new room for just 2 dollars difference. If you can choose take the "with bathroom " choice from the beginning.

This medium range hotel is located just by the Africa Hotel, in the same main avenue, and is a good choice if the Africa is full. It is roughly the same quality and type of rooms but slightly more expensive, about 70B (7 USD).
