A lovely day

I visited Tallinn in 1993 in a one-day trip from Helsinki, where I was spending a weekend out of Saint Petersburg, where I was spending a month. So in fact it wasn't planned, neither Helsinki was planned. But as I was 3 days in Helsinki and Tallinn was so close, I said to myself: why not? It will never be so close again...

... and so I took the hidrofoil, crossed the waters and spent a wonderful day in this european capital, so charming and nice...

After the URSS

A quiet street

I visited Tallinn just 2 years after Estonia regained its independence. There was still acertain sovietic flavour here and there, but the old city seemed definetly more "european" than sovietic...
I wonder if it has changed much after this 10 years of freedom...

Distance is abstract, no? I was in Helsinki but didn't get to Tallinn more because of bureaucracy than anything... though I had not regretted staying in Helsinki. VTers there had made it a memorable trip :-)

Brilliant start with interesting photos about this amzing city. The place has definetely changed a lot in 10 years. The construction in your opening photo wasn´t there anymore in july 2002 ... :-))
