  • Wooden balconies are characteristic of Lima architecture. They are part of the Spanish heritage and, besides their aesthetic value, have (had) a practical side. Most of these balconies had wooden strips letting only tiny spaces between them; this way, people from inside could stare at streetlife without being seen from the outside. This was importants in the 18-19th centuries way of life...
