Breakfast at Bolivar Hotel
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • Bolivar Hotel is one of the classic places in the centre of Lima. Too expensive for my budget, but I wanted to take a look inside, as I was told it was worth the effort.
So that sunday morning I took an early bus to the center and went straight to the bar, to have a nice breakfast there. I was first offered a table inside, but then discovered the delicious terrace in 1920s style and moved there. I was the only guest there then (8am on a sunday!) so I really enjoyed that loooong relaxed breakfast in a fantastic scenario.
    10 soles (aprox 3 euros).

Favorite Dish: Toast, croissant, orange juice, coffee and cold water.

La Rosa Nautica: La Rosa Nautica
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • La Rosa Nautica is a classical seafood restaurant in Miraflores beach. To go there, just tell the taxi driver the name, is famous. It is located on a pier right on the water, so you can have lunch at a terrace from where you see the surfers just 20 meters away catching waves!
I think lunch time is better than at night, as the views are great, but it could be a romantic place at night too, dinner with candles and so...

Favorite Dish: I had a "Corvina al limoncello" (fish with lemon sauce) and a huge beer.

    Sufle de Lúcuma
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • I stopped for a coffee at one of the many terraces in MIRAFLORES district. There I found this terrific "Lucuma Cake" and had a wonderful time enjoying it. It is really heavier than it seems, and took me a while to finish it. In those terrace you can also have lunch (western dishes, sandwiches...) and it is really amusing looking to the people passing by...

    Popular eateries
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • If you are on a tight budget or wanna try food the way locals do, there are many street stalls in the streets in Lima. Most of them are near markets or in popular festivities and religious feasts. The menu is obviously restricted but tasty and delicious... and extremely cheap. You just go, sit on the common benches and ask for the dish you like (or just point at it if you don't speak spanish). The woman in charge will serve you a generous portion and you can even order a drink.

For dessert, go to the next vendor!

    El Cordano
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • This is one of the classical bars in old Lima, where people come for a drink before dinner. Though you can eat some tiny plates here, don't come here for a meal, just for a beer or so.
It is decorated in the original 1920's style and (I think) a bit overpriced but worth the visit, as it is nearly and historical landmark.
Hard to find, as there is no sign on the door.
