Pisac is a little village not far from Cuzco, that celebrates an attractive market on sunday mornings. Is a bit too touristy those mornings, as most of the tourists staying in Cuzco come here as a group activity, but if you come early in the morning, before most buses arrive, you will still enjoy the local flavour. |
| | The market Local people from all the area come to this sunday market in Pisac, not only vendors and sellers but also folkloric groups that come here to play music and dance, so is a very colourful and interesting place. |
The ruins But Pisac is also famous for some fabulous Inca ruins located on a hill on top of the village. Not as impressive as Machu Picchu but they can be a good intro if you are visiting those afterwards. | | |

sachara Mon Apr 28, 2008 18:36 UTC Joaquin, lovely page of Pisac ! I liked this place, visited the market and walked down from the ruins. Afterwards I came back to the Sacred Valley twice. | acemj Mon Apr 16, 2007 03:52 UTC Maybe I'll go back to Peru and find Pisac for the shoe shine . . . ;-) | calcaf38 Fri Nov 3, 2006 16:06 UTC Beautiful Peru pages, Joaquin. I had a wonderful time in Pisac / Cuzco / Iquitos myself, and you have captured it so well. I also liked the mercado central in Cuzco, but I didn't taste the food. You are braver than me! | tini58de Tue May 30, 2006 06:00 UTC What an excellent page again!! Brings back many happy memories! Isn't the Sunday market amazing?? |
