In any guidebook you can read that La Paz is the highest capital in the world (3632 m). But is hard to describe in a book the feeling of vibrant chaos, traffic, street stalls, noise, slopes up, slopes down, people everywhere... life itself!!
La Paz was a nice surprise in my recent trip to Peru... |
| | In fact, I didn't have the intention of visiting La Paz. I just wanted to cross the border of Peru to visit Tiahuanaco ruins. But once there, I thought: hey, why not? is just 1 hour away, so I changed my plans and took the La Paz minibus (see pic), and spent there an afternoon and a night, leaving the next day in the morning to Copacabana, to the shores of Titicaca lake again. |
Everywhere I walked by in this huge city I got the feeling of being in a giant open air market. It was like all the shops had taken all their stuff out and had every item in street stalls. There were markets everywhere: Black Market, Witchery market, Lanza market... | | |
