Getting TO/AROUND: In the Pha Ngu Lao area you will find hundreds of backpackers travel agencies offering hop on- hop off buses for other cities, local tours to Mekong Delta, CuChi Tunnels? I guess at the end they are all the same, but the one I tried was this ?Happy Tours? (139 Bui Vien St, near the Post Office. Tel: 848 8379567). They are open till late, and offer a free breakfast for every tour you buy. They also have a minib?s hop on-off that goes all the way along the coast up to Hanoi for 20 USD.

Getting TO/AROUND: If you take one of tose Mekong Delta tours you will be taken through the narrow channels among the little islands of the Delta. The wooden boats are strait, with room for 5 people in a row. The shores are all lined up with water palm trees that grow in the water. The foliage is so thick that it made a perfect hideway for the Vietcong to hide when the USA planes appeared looking for targets. You will be offered a traditional triangular hat as you enter the boat, but don?t feel obblied to wear it?

Getting TO/AROUND: Undoubtely the best way to move around the city. There are, in fact, little cars in Saigon, but the motorbikes are enough to make huge traffic jams in a noisy atmosphere. You don?t have to rent one to experience this way of transport: many locals will offer you a ride in their own bikes as you walk by the city. They are not oficial taxis or so, just people who want to eran some extra money.Bargain first, and don?t pay more than 1 USD for any ride!
