Bukhara is possibly the 2nd most famous city of Uzbekistan, after Samarkand, but I found it even more beautiful. It is a typical city of the desert, all has an uniform sandy color, only spotted here & there with magnificient blue tiles of the domes. I remember blue skies and bricks everywhere? |
| | Founded in the 13th c.B.C., Bukhara was once a large commercial center on the Great Silk Road. It is situated in Central Asia, north of Afghanistan. |
Bukhara has always been a major religious (islamic). Here was developed the mystical Sufi approach to philosophy, religion and Islam. There are more than 350 mosques and 100 religious colleges (madrassas). | | |
