"A wonderful old town" Kochi by SirRichard
Kochi Travel Guide: 421 reviews and 974 photos
Cochin is a wonderful coastal city in the State of Kerala. Its most famous landmark are those chinese nets that fishermen used to employ for fishing and now are just a touristic background. It has mainly 3 parts:
- The old city (Fort Cochin/Matancherry) has some wonderful old portuguese streets to walk around.
- Willingdom Island has nothing really interesting apart from Cochin Harbour Terminus Railway Station and the Taj malabar Hotel.
- Ernakulam i the continental part, the "modern" city.

I am from Texas.I use your site as a guide to plan all trips. It has really helped. My trip to Munnar and Fort Cochin in Kerala, India was wonderful. Thanks for helping me finding the right hotels; for egs; Tall Trees, Munnar and Napier House, Fort Cochin
Hi, I am from Japan. Reached Cochin last week. I didn't like the hotel which was booked by my agent and I found Napier House from you site. It is a great place to stay, thanks
I had stayed there in Jan 2006 and it was a wonderful experience. The hygeine, cleanliness in the rooms and toilets, which one could seldom experience in a homestay. I am going back this year to Napier in Feb.
I simply love those chines tiles in the Synagogue.
Hello, A great photo of the Chinese fishing nets! Enjoyed reading your info about Kochi. Happy memories for me of my time spent there, and tips for places that I didn't get to see. Thanks, Sue.
Reading the page, I almost thought I was in Europe! I think I was 9 years old the last time I was here.
Nice covergae and phtographs.
I remember those Chinese fishing nets like it was yesterday!! Thanks for the memories!!
Thanks for sharing your tips and pics on what looks like a true hidden gem. I've never yet made it to India and it is clearly a must-see place, the more so for treasures like this!
