China Part 1 - Beijing | Female Lion in the Forbidden City |
Beijing was our first stop in an 18 day trip to China. There were so many wonderful things to do in Beijing that 4 weeks wouldn't have been enough time.
We normally travel independently, but because this was China, and there would be many challenges, we decided to go with a tour company. We ended up with General Tours - http://www.generaltours.com/ - and could not have been more satisfied.
The tour said there would be no more than 16 people on the trip, but we ended up being the only two people for the full time we were in China. We were met at every airport by a local guide and driver. They took care of most everything for us, making sure we got checked in, getting us reservations for dinner, extra tours, getting us on our plane for the next city, and seeing that we were well taken care of. We had plenty of time on our own, including most dinners.
In China, tour companies must contract with a national tour company for in-country tours. Our local guides were from CYTS. Our hotels were always first class, and we had a wonderful, worry-free trip.
