Hong Kong was supposed to be the end of our China tour, but for us it was just a rest stop before continuing on to Guilin. We had been in Hong Kong twice in 1977, so we were interested in seeing how things had changed in 25 years. Many places remained the same, but there were lots of new buildings.
On this visit, we got to ride the subway which is really quite nice and easy to navigate. Kowloon park was an exceptionally lovely park, and we spent some delightful hours here. On the weekends, it is quite crowded. The midlevel escalator was a must see for me since the idea really intrigued me.
Hong Kong is still much more westernized that mainland China, with many more people speaking English,
