Tübingen

No, you have not to turn upside down neither your computer nor yourself. The photo is placed correctly,

TÜBINGEN is on the geographical centre of Baden-Württemberg State and about 70 or 80 km away from Stuttgart. Through the centre of the city Neckar River flows among green parks. The greater characteristic of Tübingen is the Old Town with its traditional picturesque buildings, stone-paved streets and winding alleys giving a pleasant romantic air. It is still known as a city of poets and thinkers.

Today Tübingen is a student town with a vibrant University established in 1477 and some research centres as Max Plank institute.

I have been there for about 20 days, late November and early December, invited by a Greek friend, a post graduate student of Geology at the University of Tübingen. I didn't know the German language and my friend had to study for exams, so most of the time I was loafing about the old town and the parks or enjoying a beer in some brauhaus, either alone or with other Greeks and an American I knew there.

I remember the central square with the Town Hall (Rathaus), the Old Town and the market area that were closed to the traffic, a castle on the hill above the city and some museums, but I didn't visit any of them. At that time, the beautiful surrounding, both civil and natural, and the good company were more than enough for me. I still keep the best memories of Tübingen, as a place of beauty and relaxation.

We had also some short visits to Stuttgart and a longer one to München.
