  • A really modern and western looking city, walking in the centre you feel like walking in Locarno, walking on the seaside, you feel like walking in Rimini, just the arab signs, the smoking Arghile in the bars, and the many lebanese and Syrian check points make the difference.

  • This is a really nice small town on the coast just 30 minuts far from Beirut.Known as one of the oldest city on earth, it has some really beautiful rest of roman empire and cruiseds.
The historical park is just close to the small harbour and, walking through it listening the waves breaking against the coast is amazing.
The cost of the entrance is about 4 dollars, but if you go around midday, the tiket seller is probably having his lunch and you can enter free.

  • The roman ruins in byblos, as I said, are really a nice visit, but the impression you have walking there, is that they are almost abandoned, not a guide, noone who controls that visitors do not steal pieces of columns or else, nothing just you, a few more tourists, the ruins and the sea.

  • A nice city in the north of Lebanon about one hour and half far from Beirut.
Finally here, I had the feeling to be in an arab country, the feeling to be away from home, as I previously said, Beirut is really too similar to many cities of adriatic coast.
There is a really nice castle to visit and finally a souk!

  • A nice well maintened castle, visitable in one hour, one hour and half and able to offer a really nice view on the city it was built to protect.
The entrance costs about 4 dollars and it is located just at the beginning of the souk.

  • As in Roman ruins in Byblos, also visiting the castle in Tripoli I had the same feeling of abandoned monument, again noone to control that people would not steal anything and nothing done to make the visit easier, something like signs and walkable steps that did not make you risk to fall down anytime.

  • Just before the entrance of the castle in Tripoli, you meet on your left a small cimiter, something that look like: if you enter you now know how you will come out LOL, and, if you are not really careful in climbing some steps, that could really be a danger.

  • It was one of our last days in Lebanon, so enjoyed our visit to the Tripoli souk even more, first because it was the first souk I got the chance to see there, second because we could do some shopping before leaving.
The souk is not that big, but it is very carateristic and surrounded by a typical architecture.

  • A town I still did not find in VT, probably I mispell it, anyway it is on the coast betwen Beirut and Byblos, it is known as the old capital of party time as, the new one is definitly Beirut.
I stopped there on my way back to Beirut from Byblos and had really my best lunch on the seaside in a restaurant called Manuela.
If I went to Lebanon again, I would chose Jounieh as my base, as it is less crowded and definitly cheaper than Beirut.

  • After a great meal, smoking this kind of pipe is really relaxing, I thought it was harder to smoke, but it is definitly light, even no cigarette smokers can enjoy it.
There are many tastes of tobacco you can have, we chosed the apple one and enjoyed it.

Great overview of Lebanon. Free smokes. No wonder such a popular tourist destination. Hope to get there one day. Cheers, SL :)
