When I decided to visit Vietnam, I also wished to visit Laos.
I checked guides, vt pages, forums exc. and I found out that my time was not enough to visit both as, overland transports were too busy.
The more I was understanding how hard it was, the more I wished to visit this country, and, after many flyghts and many hours on busses, I can say it was worth!
Just after landing in Vientanne, even before to reach Luan Pabang, you can breath how old and fragile is this country.
It is like a place where you should walk with sandals or better naked foot just to not be noisy, just to not break something.
What can you do in a so delicate and quite country?
Ofcourse it's plenty of places worth a visit, but I had some of the best sleepy nights here.
- Pros:Old, pure
- In a nutshell:go but do not disturb!

Great pictures and page! Greetings from Hungary!
Nice page Corra
All Laos is off beaten path indeed! I liked how you could get close to the people Corra! People are wonderful everywhere, and I think of visiting Laos one day.
Interesting overview of Laos with excellent photographs. We have not been to any of these Indochinese countries yet. Mekong River and Pak Ou Caves certainly attract us the most. Thanks for the virtual tour. ~ho & pang
Laos sounds like a country I would enjoy, with all its peace, friendly people and beautiful scenery. And the fact that you can explore it by boat makes it even more attractive. Loved your pictures esp. those of children and landscapes. Great colours!
Good page on Laos. It certainly does look a lot quieter on the roads to Vietnam. The honking is too much there!!
Cool page of Laos.
A very good page about Laos. I share your enthusiasm for this country, I just loved its laid-back atmosphere, smiling people and beautiful scenery.
in which part of laos exactly can find these pumps???
You did such a great job describing Laos, and it is, indeed, a restful place. Found most interesting: buffalo meat to eat, floating gas pumps, Pak ou Caves, Luan Prabong; but, the ultimate beauty was the photo of the kids!
