Train

You can reach 5 terre and so riomaggiore from genova or La Spezia.
From both cities you can get to 5 terre by train, La Spezia is the closer station(about 8 minuts to Riomaggiore).The train tiket is 6 hours long valid, so you can visit more villages with one single tiket getting up and down of the frequent trains.
These are sure the best train station I have ever seen, specially the Riomaggiore one as most of them are have a great view on the sea.

Lift

There are no cars around Riomaggiore.
As I said the town is an upgrade from the station and the harbour to the castle.
If you do not want to walk you can take a lift at the station which costs about 1 euro or the green ecobus that runs from the beginning of the centre to the castle.
