Kuala Lumpur Transportation

Air Travel: Airasia
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Airplane
Getting TO/AROUND: I flew from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur with Airasia and used the same company for some more trips in South east Asia.
What I can say is that they are really convenient and reliable, just very slow in check in so, you should really be in the airport 2 hours before the departure.
Kuala Lumpur has 2 airports, Airasia departs and land in Kuala Lumpur Low cost Companies, it is not just for internal flights, infact I used the same airport also to go to Philippines.
You do not have any bus taking you from the aircraft to the airport, but in case of rain there will be some nice attendants giving you airasia umbrellas.

LRT (Light Rail Transit): City train

    Category: Train
Getting TO/AROUND: This the most used city transport.
It's very convenient as it is cheap, I have never seen it too crowded and it is often faster than taxis.
It is not like an underground as you do not buy a tiket valid to wherever you are going, prices change depending on your destination, but still it's very cheap.

    Taxis: Finally!
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: I always complain about taxi drivers, no matter where you are, they just try to rip you off, at least this has been my experience, I only found honest taxi drivers in 2 places: Wien and now, finally also in asia in Kuala Lumpur.
I always got to pay what taxi meters indicated, ofcourse you will find drivers trying to deal a price with you, but when I stopped a taxi in the street I never had to ask anything, I just looked at the meter and paid, anyway usually going around the city centre costs more or less 5 ringits.
More expensive is the trip from the aisport as it is about 1 hour long, when arrived in the airport go at the exit and you will find the taxi counter which will ask you to chose betwen budget taxi and limousine, in the day time a trip to the city centre was about 60 ringit. The cheaper option is to take the bus of air asia or the city bus which will take you from the airport to the KL central station for 9 ringits or less and, from there then, you can go to your hotel by taxi if you do not want to carry your lagguages around.

Great page on KL. Female drivers only...interesting, have not seen that yet. In Alor Setar, Kedah, the public swimming pool is for females only on Wednesday!

Liked your tip on Indian marriages. In my pages I have added two personal albums on my marriage. You can check that out. I am sure you will like that too.

Now I see where your member-photo was taken, at the Indian wedding in KL. Do they have arranged marriages there, or do people decide themselves who they are going to marry? (I know someone who says arranged marriages work better, not sure I agree though.)
